JBSL-USA will be showcasing NSK-SD, its nattokinase enzyme ingredient formulated for cardiovascular support, at SupplySide West.
 
Nattokinase, a serine protease enzyme with 275 amino acid residues, is naturally present in natto, a traditional Japanese dish of fermented soybeans. NSK-SD nattokinase is a patented enzyme produced from non-GMO soybeans fermented from a proprietary strain of Bacillus subtilis natto. All naturally-occurring vitamin K2 is removed from the ingredient, as K2 may interfere with warfarin and may increase blood coagulation, according to the company.
 
JBSL pioneered the nattokinase category with emerging findings in in vitro and in vivo human studies. NSK-SD is the only nattokinase that has its own published safety, efficacy, and identity data, JBSL reports. JBSL developed a testing method called I-BOX to identify its ingredient as nattokinase, while ruling out different enzymes.

In six human studies, participants with varied blood pressure parameters such as hypertension, risk of hypertension, high blood pressure, and uncontrolled systolic hypertension saw reduced systolic and diastolic readings after supplementing with NSK-SD.
